Top Ten Fantasy Football Kickers

It's been a couple weeks but here is the finale to my position-by-position breakdown of the Top Fantasy Football players. Kickers are the position that you can almost take your favorite teams kicker and be just fine. That is, of course, if the kickers that are sure to hit 50+ yard Field Goals are gone. With that in mind, here are the Top 10 Kickers.

TOP 10 FANTASY FOOTBALL KICKERS
(Matt Prater (right) really pulled through for his team last season, who will do it this season?)
 1. Mason Crosby (Packers)- Between the Packers going 15-1 and their high-powered offense, the Packers offense is not going to be much different from last season. Expect Crosby to be good for at least a Field Goal and 4-5 Extra Points a game.

2. Sebastian Janikowski (Raiders)- The Raiders have their best player locked in for a while, and he is probably the best kicker since Jason Elam when it comes to long distance Field Goals. Janikowski tied the record last season in the season opener with his 63-yard Field Goal in Denver.

3. David Akers  (49ers)- David Akers had a career resurgence in San Francisco last year after being cut by the Eagles. With all the come-from-behind victories the 49ers had last season, Akers was among the most clutch kickers in the league.

4. Matt Prater (Broncos)- What's the word? Tim Tebow led the Broncos to six straight wins? Just like Tom Brady got credit for the three Super Bowl wins that came off the right leg of Vinatieri, the same can be said about Tim Tebow and Matt Prater. Prater did have a couple of chip shot misses in the middle of the games, but when it came to game-tying or game-winning field goals, Prater was clutch. Including 59-yard and 51-yard Field Goals against the Bears.

5. Dan Bailey (Cowboys)- There were moments last year when the Cowboys troubles with David Buelher had been solved with Dan Bailey. But then a couple of games where he cost them because of being iced by the opposing coach, or his coach. But Dan Bailey was a rookie last year and should be solid next season.

6. Garret Hartley (Saints)- The Saints have a potent offense (once again Drew Brees will be there), so Hartley is sure to get some extra points. And Hartley is also good from distance, and he plays in a dome half at least 9 games in the season, so he faces great conditions.

7. Stephen Gostkowski (Patriots)- Just like the Saints, the Patriots have a potent offense that gives Gostkowski plenty of opportunities for extra points. Gostkowski is a great long distance kicker as well.

8.  Jason Hanson (Lions)- The Lions have a great offense as well with Stafford and Johnson. Hanson was also clutch last year as the Lions had many come-from-behind victories. Expect him to do the same this year as they play in a tough division.

9. Matt Bryant (Falcons)- The Falcons may not have the offense of the Packers or Saints, but they do play in a dome, which gives Bryant great conditions to score field goals from any distance.

10. Billy Cundiff (Ravens)- The Ravens kept Cundiff after him missing the Field Goal that would of tied the AFC Championship game. But just because he misses a playoff Field Goal doesn't ruin his career (see David Akers). Cundiff is another one of the most solid kickers in the NFL.

**Sleeper** Phil Dawson (Browns)- While the Browns may not have a offense the level of a Saints or a Packers, they did get Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden (if he starts) in the draft. This will translate into more points and more opportunities for Dawson to get Field Goals.

**Owners Beware*** Adam Vinatieri (Colts)- Do not let his name fool you. The Colts are going with Andrew Luck, who really just has Reggie Wayne to throw to. It will be a tough season and may be difficult for Vinatieri to get points.

That wraps up my fantasy football blog for the 2012 season. Here are the links to the other blogs which will help prepare you for the next season. Good Luck (unless you play me of course).
